Liane and Robert are some of my dear friends. So you can imagine my joy when they told me they were engaged! And you can imagine my elation when they told me they were going back to Liane’s home state of Hawaii for the wedding! And I’m sure you can imagine my heartbreak when they told me their date…because I was already booked. However, I was so excited that Melanie was able to go and document their day for them!
Liane and Robert chose the Queen Emma Summer Palace to wed at, harkening back to Hawaii’s unique history and culture. They wore leis! They used native Hawaiian florals. And they catered specifically Liane’s favorite Hawaiian food! All things that added up to a perfect destination wedding!
And despite the downpour that day, Melanie did an absolutely fabulous job with the photos! I could not even believe it when I saw the images. You would never have known it rained much! Melanie utilized the porch when necessary and the couple and wedding party were troopers to hike out to the amazing scenery before the rain began.
I especially loved the details about Liane’s dress. This vintage 1920’s dress was found at a local vintage shop. The sleeves were damaged so the store was having them removed and when the dress came back from repair, Liane knew it was perfect for her. I love that she chose to do a floral crown to mimic everyone else’s leis. I love how the design on the dress mimics a lei as well!
Details aside, I love Liane and Robert’s love. These two are inseparable all the time and were even more so on their wedding day. They are so cute and I am so honored that they flew Melanie out to capture their wedding day! Liane and Robert, so joyful for you both! Enjoy!
