Lindsay and Adrian live in Santa Barbara, but chose to wed in Adrian’s home country, Switzerland. After seeing the engagement photos of Chethana and Eric, the couple were interested in working with me. And boy am I grateful! I don’t even know where to begin with my gratitude for destination couples. It’s my dream in life to shoot a wedding on all 6 continents (four down, two to go! Africa and Asia, hint, hint!). And Lindsay and Adrian helped me come one step closer. I know it’s hard to plan a wedding, and so I can’t imagine how much more difficult planning a destination wedding must be. And I realize how much more it takes to hire your photographer locally and have them travel to your wedding, so I am always so honored to be there.
Lindsay and Adrian’s weekend started with a legally required Civil Ceremony the day before their wedding. You can hold this ceremony in a slew of places, so the couple chose Schloss Greifensee, just across the lake from where Adrian was raised and just outside of Zurich. They got married in the Landvogtstube Room, perfect since Lindsay’s last name is Vogt! Family members accompanied the couple up the stairs, over the mote (!), and into the Manor for the ceremony while all the other guests waited outside to cheer and greet the couple as they exited as husband and wife. The officiant was so enjoyable, truly takes his job very seriously, and is so honored to be able to marry couples and it shows. He gave them a special Swiss gift as well as read an endearing poem for the couple. Afterwards the couple took a few minutes for portraits before joining their wedding guests for a brunch. Then we piled onto a bus to head up into the Alps for the wedding the next day!
It was the perfect beginning to the wedding weekend. Stay tuned for more tomorrow!
